Toy Story 5 Teaser Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story movie was released, establishing Pixar as a leading animation studio and bringing viewers to iconic characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans wondering how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys
The preview reveals Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he left for college — getting a brand new toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a carnival and helping prize toys find good homes.
Certainly, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Last Installment
At the very least, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. The clip displays the insignia pinned to her outfit.
Hopefully she is still the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
