This winter transfer market proves to be a period of feverish rumour and potential major transfers. Several notable stars find themselves connected to moves away from their current clubs. Here is a look at some of the major names that might be on the move in January.

A. Semenyo

Although the Black Stars' inability to qualify for the AFCON, which has kept the player available, indications are an important move is close. The Bournemouth attacker has a contract featuring a sizeable buy-out clause applicable for a two-week window in early January. Latest reports suggest the Premier League champions look to have won the race for his signature. Other interested parties such as Tottenham and Chelsea reportedly have moved on to alternative targets, leaving teams such as Liverpool or Manchester United to attempt a late move.

Marc Guéhi

This English defender has continued to excel for Palace despite a summer move to Anfield falling through. As his contract set to expire in the close season, January is the club's last opportunity to secure a fee for their captain. Numerous top clubs, including City and multiple European giants like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, are believed to hold an interest. Yet, a January departure remains unlikely, especially given the coach's reliance on the player.

Brennan Johnson

This Wales forward has had starting minutes hard to come by at Spurs this term. Despite being the club's top scorer last season, Johnson has begun just a small number of league games. Reports suggest the London outfit would be open to a transfer for the right valuation, thought to be in the around £40 million. The Cherries are currently leading the chase, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford also showing an inquiry.

Spurs value the Welsh international at around forty million pounds.

R. Neves

This Portugal playmaker could be set for a comeback to the English top flight after a period in the Saudi Pro League. Still just twenty-eight, while his agreement ending in the summer of 2026, he represents a potential opportunity. Clubs such as Manchester United and Liverpool are linked with the player. Furthermore, there are rumours from Spain that he is prepared to accept a reduced salary for a switch to Real Madrid.

Marc-André ter Stegen

The veteran German shot-stopper finds himself as third-choice at Barça under the manager Flick. Having lost his place and had an operation, a January departure looks highly likely. Aston Villa were once linked as a possible destination, but that move currently seems unlikely. Instead, interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are thought to be expressing interest in the keeper.

I. Toney

This proven England centre-forward has continued scoring frequently in the Middle East. Coming back to the Premier League could boost his dwindling hopes of making the England World Cup. But, arranging a deal presents major hurdles. Al-Ahli do not wish to part with him, and his reported huge weekly wages make any agreement difficult. Tottenham, Manchester United, and Everton have all been mentioned as interested parties.

The striker was instrumental as his Saudi club to victory in the Saudi Super Cup final.

This energetic English midfielder attracted widespread interest in the summer but stayed at Atlético Madrid. Having few starts in La Liga this term, he is keen to find more minutes ahead of the World Cup. United are strongly connected, and a return to Selhurst Park, a club he excelled on loan, remains a possibility, though financial constraints could be a stumbling block.

H. Elliott

Although excelling and winning player of the tournament at the U21 Euros last summer, the young player has found it tough for game time during his loan spell at Aston Villa. Unai Emery has stated the loan move won't become permanent. Due to specific rules about representing multiple teams in a campaign, a return to his parent club prior to next summer seems to be the only viable solution.

K. Yildiz

This highly-rated Turkish attacker is in fine form for Juventus this term. With his existing contract nearing its end, many English sides – including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham – are keeping tabs on the developments. The Turin club are eager to tie down the 20-year-old to a new long-term agreement but are in a battle to retain one of Europe's brightest young talents.

K. Smit

This much-admired Dutch midfielder has drawn comparisons to Kevin De Bruyne for his playing style. Following starring at the U19 Euros, he has broken into the AZ Alkmaar side. The teenager is heavily tipped to complete a big-money move in January. Newcastle are believed to be frontrunners, but could face stiff competition from Real Madrid for a deal priced at around £22 million.
